The Israeli-Palestinian conflict in digital newspapers

The Intersectionality Media Lab of CICANT – Centre for Research in Applied Communication, Culture, and New Technologies  (Lusófona University) is sharing with the entire scientific community (or anyone interested) two databases referring to digital journalism in Portugal that mention the Israeli-Palestinian conflict during the month between 7 October and 7 November 2023. Project presentation at Lunch with Science

On 15 September, Carla Rodrigues Cardoso, PI of IM Lab – The Joacine Katar Moreira Case Study, presented the project at Lunch with Science, the monthly meeting of CICANT’s researchers and PhD students. The feedback received was enriching and very positive.

Kickoff meeting on 12 October

Researchers and project partners had their first working meeting on 12 October. At this Kickoff Meeting, the IM Lab – The Joacine Katar Moreira Case Study team was formally presented to the partners and the project was discussed in detail. This meeting brought important inputs to the researchers.   

SOPCOM 2022

SOPCOM 2022: three abstracts approved IM Lab – The Joacine Katar Moreira Case Study is going to be represented by six of its seven researchers in three different working groups and exploring three different topics at SOPCOM, the most important Portuguese conference on Communication Sciences. The conference will be held on 19-21 January 2022 and these are the titles and the researchers involved:   – GT Jornalismo e Sociedade (Tema: Disrupção Tecnológica) – “Design editorial e conexão emocional na cobertura mediática da eleição de Joacine Katar Moreira” – Carla Rodrigues Cardoso, Alexandra Barradas and Anna Ragasová; – GT Género e Sexualidades (Tema: Disrupção Social) – “A Doxa Jornalística: Democracia e Opinião sobre Joacine Katar Moreira no Observador”  – Daniel Cardoso and Sónia Lamy; – GT Comunicação e Política (Tema: Disrupção Política) –  “O dia seguinte: a eleição de Joacine Katar Moreira na imprensa tradicional e online portuguesa” – Carla Martins and Carla Rodrigues Cardoso.
